About
Several years ago, a dear friend of mine started a website complete with message board. I joined the board and felt led to share some of the books I was reading in hopes that others would share as well. When I was reluctant, my friend was quite encouraging and so, because of my “little bear” friend, the handle ehart and my “career” as a book reviewer, and Christian message board member was born.
That board has since gone defunt (denomininational politics) but the website remains. Out of it another message board developed which contains my oldest book reviews–some of which were lifted from the original board and are published under another poster’s name. I believe they were lifted in hopes of lifting me to the new board.
To date, I’m a member of four Christian message boards. My choice is to join and contribute only to Evangelical Christian message boards. I believe in a literal heaven and a literal hell. I believe that all people everywhere are born once and at the age of accountability, are destined for hell due to the fall of Adam in the Garden of Eden. I believe there is but one way out of that destiny and that is the Blood of Jesus Christ shed on the Cross of Calvary.
I believe the Bible is literally true. I believe in a seven-day creation and the only Big Bang I believe in is the one that occurred when God said “Let there be light!”
I believe that Revelation has not happened yet, but will happen and it is getting closer every day.
I believe that certain things are sins, have always been sins and always will be sins.
Having said all those things, please do not look for liberal ideas or modern interpretations of scripture to be reviewed favorably here. I do not believe that Asherah Poles and Mother God and Pantheism and Evolution can be explained or accepted by true Christians. I do not believe that Edgar Cayce was a prophet nor do I believe that Nostradamus had a special vision from God from time to time–God is not the author of confusion and Nostradamus speaks in confusing riddles.
Since this is my blog, I reserve the right to review or not review any book I choose to read. The content of this blog is mine and mine alone. Most of the books I read and will review are Evangelical Christian in origin but not all are. I have two college degrees in history so it is quite possible and even probable that I will review books that are historical and not Christian in origin.
I may also review secular children’s books as I substitute teach and read aloud to my sons from many different types of works. Some people may find it shocking that I read Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, and other books that contain references to majic and wizards. My answer to those people would be that “they are fiction” and while we are not to be “of the world” we still must live “in the world” until such a time as Christ calls us home. I also believe that it is possible to find God in more places than just in Christian works. In fact, I would go so far as to say that it is possible to miss God entirely in some Christian works because of the focus of the writer.
As I am starting this blog over two years after some of the reviews have been written, please feel free to go back to the archives and comment or ask questions on any book reviewed here.
Thank you for visiting and especially thank you for sticking with this page to the very end. It was very kind of you.
